List of Materials Needed:
- White construction paper
- pre-cut flag shapes or canvas fabric squares (optional)
- Drawing & coloring supplies
- Decorating supplies (for symbolism and texture)
- magazine cutouts (optional)
- stickers or foam shapes (optional)
- Glue sticks or liquid glue
- Tape
- Popsicle sticks, wooden dowels, straws, or pencils to mount the flag
Instructions:
1. Cut construction paper into the desired shape of a flag, or you can hand out pre-cut flags
2. Have the students decorate the flags with things that represent them: their interests, hobbies, and favorite things.
3. Then, using the tape, attach the finished flag to a stick of your choice.
4. Have the students share with their friends or with the class about things that they put on their flag, including how they designed it, which thing is important to them, etc.
