Bridge to Tomorrow

We acheive our goals by taking one step at a time, just like building a bridge. Tile by tile, we slowly arrive at our destination. Learn and reflect on goals through art!

List of Materials Needed:

-  Large sheets of paper or poster board

- Colored paper (to cut out “tiles” or “steps”)

- Popsicle sticks also works as tiles

- Markers, crayons, or colored pencils

Scissors and glue sticks

- Optional: craft sticks, string, or construction materials for a 3D bridge

Instructions:

1. Introduce the project. Share how achieving goals is like crossing a bridge—each small step helps us get closer to where we want to be.

2. Begin by building the two ends of the bridge, the start (where the students are currently) and the end (where students want to be/ their goal). This can be built with cardstock or sticks.

3. To link the end and beginning, have the students cut out small papers or popsicle sticks to represent each "step". Connect each step together and eventually it should be long enough to connect the start of the bridge to the end.

4. Ask students to share one tile that feels most important to them. Ask questions like "Which step feels easiest? Which feels hardest?" or "How will you know you’re getting closer to your goal?"
